Time Stone doesn't factor into any of this really. Have you heard of the butterfly effect? That's the easiest way to change a timeline. I can also just say any decision a creature makes can create a branch. We don't prune those anymore so they're free to do their own thing.
What do we do, then, if those altered timelines are free to do their own thing now? [ Or, well, just her now since he's retiring? It's a small reprieve, at least, that what she's changed gets to stay changed. She'll happily spend as long as it takes paying for what she's done. ]

That's the basic idea yea. Causes branches in timelines all the time. I'll have to make a note of it. There are way too many movies I still need to catch up on.
