Yeah. Title's The Butterfly Effect. The protagonist has blackouts and later finds out that it's because his future self, which is his present at that point, can travel back in time and inhabit his younger body.

Who decides if something is considered a threat to the timeline though, as opposed to a natural progression?
That's the basic idea yea. Causes branches in timelines all the time. I'll have to make a note of it. There are way too many movies I still need to catch up on.
