It hadn't taken Bucky very long at all to get ready. Jeans, Henley or two, shoes, done. He'd grab his jacket, hat, and backpack when they were on their way out. So, by the time she came back out he was sitting comfortably on the couch, flipping through the channels idly.

So, when she showed back up, he couldn't help the amused grin on his face. "Yeah, I'm not gonna lie about that," he said, teasing her a bit as he picked up his phone and opened Google. He knew what size she wore when they were younger, so it didn't take him long to run searches for 1940s [dress/shoe/clothing] sizes compared to today to get a general idea of what size they'd be looking for.

"Want me to see if I can just get something simple delivered real quick, that way you've got something else to wear to the shops?" he asked, turning the phone so she could see what he was doing. "I know you'd probably wanna pick most things out in person, but I figure something simple would probably be good enough to start with. Like, I don't know. A dress or a sweater and pants or something."

Bucky chuckled a little at how quickly Steph jumped on the idea of getting something delivered, and leaned over to give her a quick kiss when she sat down beside him. He had two hair ties on his own metal wrists, but he wouldn't begrudge letting her run her small hands through his hair. "Sure," he told her simply, snagging the hand playing with his hair and pressing a quick kiss to it before letting it go.

Then, because he was so much taller than her, he slid off the couch to sit on the floor in front of it. In that position, not only would she be able to pull his hair back for him easier, but when he found somewhere to order from he could show her dress options and whatever easier, letting her just watch over his shoulder.

And that's what he did. He picked Walmart simply for ease of delivery and the fact that they had everything there--like a modern, lower quality Sears since Sears didn't seem to be around any more (but they also sold food)--and as she played with his hair he showed her different dress, coat, boot, and undergarment options on his phone screen over his shoulder. At that time of year it was definitely getting cold out, so Bucky even encouraged her to get some tights or something.

Once they had something picked out he placed the order--paying the extra charge to get it delivered faster--and set his phone aside before relaxing even more against the couch. "Alright, you should have your starter outfit in an hour."

Bucky caught the hand Steph had resting in his hair and pulled it down so he could press a gentle kiss to it. "It's fine, I mean it," he said as he turned to grin at her. "According to the bank statements we were left with--" which he'd looked at a bit further earlier that morning, before Steph woke up and before he began to cook their breakfast, "--we should be covered for a long time. And that's if we don't find ways to make more money."

Because of when they grew up, the two of them should know how to make do with things, and how to budget when needed. But it didn't seem like it was desperately needed any time soon.

Then he thought of something. He picked his phone back up and pulled up their order, then the dress. Bucky could tell she particularly liked that dress, and it had only been a little over $30. "I looked up the, uh... inflation rates-" it just took him a second to think of the word for that. "-a while back, when I was first learning how to use my phone to learn things, and I was so thrown about the price of everything."

He then turned the phone so she could see the dress. "If you saw this for two bucks in a store back during the war, would that have shocked you as much? Cause when I looked into it, I found out that a dollar back then is worth almost twenty bucks now."
