Whatever she expected from the cryptic tag, it wasn't this.
She bursts out laughing as she pulls the item out of the ripped wrapping, because really? "Ooh, kinky," she says, her mind immediately going to the other purpose that she's willing to bet he absolutely intended. Strapping one end around her wrist, she teases, "You out of handcuffs? Or did you wanna pretend we're back in the 30s?" You know, when anything rougher would've probably injured her.
He waits as she tears the wrapping off the gift he'd handed her. He's been waiting for two weeks for this reaction– and oh, she has delivered. That laugh was unbridled and real in a way he's not sure she lets herself have much of these days, and some part of him wishes he could bottle that sound and replay it any time he needs a little boost during the day.
Her commentary, of course, is top-notch, as expected. He feels the smirk curl around his lips, only barely holding back a laugh of his own, "I figure maybe these are a little easier on the wrists," he quips back. Not that she can't handle the real ones or anything, but... even if she isn't the easily-snapped-in-two twig she used to be, he doesn't want to hurt her, even if she insists she's fine. Metal digging into your wrists hurts, no matter who you are.
"Plus, I can use it to keep up with you when we go out to Coney Island or a fair or something." It may have been a joke, but there was the slightest edge of truth to the note on that tag, Steph.
